#NOSL 2023
Client: Ella Baker Center for Human Rights
Created: 2023 Medium: Digital Illustration Background: Night Out for Safety and Liberation (NOSL) is a national event held on the first Tuesday in August where people across the country come together to redefine what #SafetyIs: dignity, opportunity, and power in our communities. It is an annual event created by the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, and our goal is to change the conversation about public safety to be less focused on fear, punishment, policing, and criminalization. Approach: Gender Justice, a reflection on intersectional advocacy, mutual aid and the pursuit of change. I chose to view Gender Justice through the lens of community care, highlighted by the two figure embracing one another and offering comfort. While working on this piece I discovered that the Dahlia flower symbolizes change. In this era of instability and violence, I chose it as my motif signifying our continued fight for positive change. |
